Arena 1
Arena 1 opened this morning with The Binks Family 153cm Show Hunter Pony class, which saw Floras Bertolli, ridden by Amber Hall, named the winner, the pair went from strength to strength, being named Show Hunter Pony champions later in the morning.
Summer Ward-Brown riding Morning Sunflower took an early win in The Binks Family 143cm Show Hunter Pony with second place taken by Victoria Mcdowall riding Romanno Fandango.
The Binks Family 133cm Show Hunter Pony class saw Rebecca Green and Mountpleasant Celtic Mist come out on top taking the win with a clear lead, followed by Poppy Steadman in second place riding Isley Walton Quartz.
It was a tightly fought competition in The Binks Family 122cm Show Hunter Pony this morning, with Harry Edwards-Brady just taking the lead to win riding Gryngallt Page Too. Their success continued into the championship, coming away with the Reserve Champion title.
Eva Herring and Jackets Destiny were on top form in The British Show Pony Society 148cm Children’s Riding Pony class, taking the win and going on to be named Reserve Riding Pony Champions. Freya Herring and Laybalands Fly By Night followed them in second place.
The British Show Pony Society 138cm Children’s Riding Pony class was hotly contested by 12 starters, with only 1 point separating the top three placings. Poppy Steadman and Valentine Quick Step took first place, with Matilda Holmes and Silkmill Blueprint hot on their heels coming in second.
Claudia Groves and Meadowmarsh Cinderella had a successful morning, winning The British Show Pony Society 128cm Children’s Riding Pony before going on to be named The British Show Pony Society Riding Pony Champions. Katie Parker and Sandboro Angel Eyes took second place.
The busy Roseberry Stud Ridden Partbred Pony class saw 16 starters come forward, but it was Charlotte Tuck and 6-year-old Hollyland High Hopes who wowed the judges to stand apart and take the win. Although Charlotte is a veteran of HOYS, this will be Hollyland High Hopes first year there, where she has also qualified for two other classes. They were followed closely by Milly Gilbert riding Broadgrove Family Silver who went into second place.
Always a crowd pleaser, the British Ridden Heavy Horse of the Year class saw 6 majestic horses’ step into the ring. One of the youngest in the class, it was Hillmoor Lucky Lady, ridden by Sarah Warburton, who came away the winner. Hillmoor Lucky Lady, known as Lucky at home, is only 4 and was an orphan foal who Sarah bottle-fed since she was born. She said she is a: “total dope on a rope” and adores her.
Arena 2
Allan Birch and 12-year-old Ricruiso were one of only three clear rounds in the Lightweight Working Hunter class. Not only did they take the win, but they went on to be crowned Working Hunter Champions. Allan said: “he [Ricruiso] jumped a nearly foot-perfect round for me. He didn’t put a foot out of place. He’s qualified for HOYS 3 times but has never made it due to injury, so it means everything this time!” Olivia Minihane and Veuve Clicquot came in second place.
The Heavyweight Working Hunter class saw Matthew Cooper and Coevers Candy put in a lovely clear, one of only two in the class, to be named the winner before going on to take the Reserve Working Hunter Champion title. Ginny Rose and ABC Little Rock followed shortly behind in second.
In a tightly contested class, Ruby Ward and Noble Peppermint put in a foot-perfect clear round in the National Pony Society/Mole Valley Farmers 133cm Working Hunter Pony class to take the win before going on to be named Reserve Hunter Pony Champion. Beatrice Bailye-hawkins came second riding Precious Gem II.
Renee Holland and Charlie Chan II were victorious in the National Pony Society/Mole Valley Farmers 143cm Working Hunter Pony class today with the only clear round in the class. Second place went to Harriet Thompson and Fraggle.
In a busy class there were only 3 clears in the National Pony Society/Mole Valley Farmers 153cm Working Hunter Pony class, one of which was Emily Mccourt riding Rathbane Legend, who went on to win the class. This is 12-year-old Rathbane Legend’s, known as Scotty at home, first HOYS qualification. Emily said he: “jumped super – it was a difficult track with all of the fillers. He’s really cheeky at home, he’s actually much better at a show!”
Laura Whittington and Hayestown Diamond Lady went clear in the National Pony Society/Mole Valley Farmers Intermediate Working Hunter Pony class and took a 4-point lead to win, before being named Working Hunter Pony Champions. Izzy Rees and Newmarket Alloy came in second place with the only other clear round.
Arena 4
In a large class of 15, Katherine Marks and Thorneyside Guardsman took the win in the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Welsh Section D class with Rebecca Penny riding Larnleighs Express taking home second place.
Iola Lloyd Hughes and 5-year old Tyrllawn Miracle Man just edged out the competition in the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Welsh Section C class to take home the win. This is the first qualification for Tyrllawn Miracle Man, known as Milo at home, having only come for the day out to gain some experience. When talking about Milo Iola said he: “entertains us daily, he’s an escape artist, a rug trasher, and he’s very cheeky!”
The National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Fells class saw Setmabanning Danny Boy, ridden by Sarah Howarth, take home the title. Stephanie Peto and Murthwaite Heir Hunter were close behind the winners to take home second place.
Caitlin Hamilton and Nipna Invictus had a successful trip to Stoneleigh, not only winning the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Dales class, but taking home the M&M Ridden Large Breed Championship title. Jonathan Stevens and Nipna Kitty O’day came in second.
The National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Highland saw Clare Fitch and Valerock Monroe snatch the win over Phoebe Price and Lyncrest S Malakie who took second place.
Charley Baxter and 11-year-old Glenkyle Baron were named the winners in the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Connemara class. Glenkyle Baron, known as Barry at home, is an 11-year-old stallion who Charley said: “is so lovely, an absolute diamond of a stallion!” Barry’s owner is currently in hospital and was absolute thrilled to hear the news. They were followed by Lucy Heygate in second place riding Inverin Paddy.
Carla Fall and Sway Mister Darcy took the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden New Forest class by storm before going on to be named M&M Ridden Large Breed Reserve Champions. They were followed by Ellena Thomas and Hilltop Ned in second.
It was a hard-fought win in the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Dartmoor class for Samantha Roberts and Treworgan Commodore. Hollie Mcgauley riding Pumphill Rasputin were hot on their heels for second place.
Davinia Johnson and 12-year-old Stowbrook Red Kite, known as Kite at home, were crowned the winners in the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Exmoor class. This is his second HOYS qualification, and Davinia said he: “is just such a sweetheart, a proper mummy’s boy. Even my 5-year-old nephew leads him in from the field.” They were followed by Alice Tomlinson and Eddra Chillies in second.
The National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Shetland class saw Ellie Ellingworth and Homer Of Crafton take a stand-out 4-point lead to take the win over Sharon Weightman and Sharptor Desire who came in second.
Lilly Richardson and Elberry Suilen had a successful day in the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Welsh Section A class, coming home the winner. Victoria Harker and Dukeshill Pearly Spencer came in close behind in second place.
The National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Welsh Section B class saw 19 starters come forward, before crowning Rowen Hilton and Milford Fair Breeze the winners. The pair then went on a winning streak taking the M&M Ridden Small Breed Championship.
Arena 5
The Price Family Lead Rein Pony was the first class of the day in Arena 5. Nordy Tinkerbell, ridden by Frank Newbould, took the win in the class of 7, followed by Ella Croll riding Hollybush Jauntilly in second place.
William Parkin, riding Stretcholt Pussykin, took an impressive win this morning in The Price Family First Ridden Pony, going on to take the Mini Show Pony Championship Title. Olivia Murphy, riding Romanno Placidity, was pulled in second place before being crowned Reserve Mini Show Pony Champion.
The Gribbin Family Lead Rein Pony of Hunter Type saw Penny Richardson and Gwyrddparc Torres come out on top with second place taken by Esther Tilbury and Thistledown Anita.
Lauren White riding Rendene Noble Charm came out victorious in the Oyster Wealth Planning 153cm Intermediate Show Riding Type class, 5 points ahead of second place, which was taken by Amelia Lockhart riding Absolutely Classic.
The Oyster Wealth Planning 158cm Intermediate Show Riding Type was narrowly won by Isabella Mears riding Forgeland Hyde Park. However, it was second place, Madam Daisy Darby and Bankswood Savoir Faire, who put on a stellar performance in the championship to take home the Intermediate title.
In a large class of 15, it was Samuel Walker and Rathnaleen Tom Jones who came away with the win in the Rotherwood Stud Intermediate Show Hunter. Second place went to Jessica Reed-else and CSF Chantilly Galway Girl, who made a comeback in the championship to be named Reserve Intermediate Champion.
Samuel Bentley and Weydown Royal Consort were the winners of the M&M Junior Ridden Small Breed class sponsored by UK Ponies & Horses Ltd. Second place was taken by Katie Adams riding Skellorn Miss Ellie, who came back to impress the judges in the championship to be named Reserve M&M Junior Ridden Champion.
The M&M Junior Ridden Large Breed class sponsored by UK Ponies & Horses Ltd proved to be popular with a huge 21 starters coming forwards. Only one point separated the top two placings, with Macaulay Jackson and Dalefoot Amber II showing their class to take the win before going on to be crowned the M&M Junior Ridden Champions. Tamia Joyner and Cruglwyd Esgob came in a close second.
There was a great turnout for the miniature classes today, with some hot competition. Justine O’neill took the win in the Stallion class with Ujenik Extasy Montego, whilst the Mare/Gelding class crowned Harriet Wood and Summerrose Little Hawk victorious before they went on to be named Reserve Miniature Horse Champions. Finally, to close out Arena 5, the Miniature Youngstock class saw Blackspirits Southern Belle impress the judges to not only win the class, but go on to with the Miniature Horse Championship.
